CBU Youth Acting Academy

 

CBU Youth Acting Academy (YAA), in partnership with Inland Empire Musical Arts, provides youth ages 8-17 with high quality theatre arts experience that integrates drama, movement, music and stagecraft.  

 

 

AFTERNOON PROGRAMS

September to May

 

Taught by CBU Theatre Faculty, Staff, and Students, CBU Youth Acting Academy offers afternoon classes for students ages 8 - 17.

Held on campus at California Baptist University at the Wallace Theatre, classes are held weekly in the Fall and Spring Semesters.

 

Over the course of a calendar year, class offerings include:

  • Creative Drama

  • Acting Fundamentals

  • Audition Techniques

  • Musical Theatre

  • One-week Acting Summer Camp (Grades 7-12)

 

Students study theatre in a safe, supportive environment

designed to nurture creativity, imagination, and individual growth. 

Fall Semester Classes:

 

Acting Ensemble (ages 8-10):

Learn the fundamentals of “acting” by doing! Ensemble work, improvisation, short monologues, theatre games, and scenes.

 

Dates: Fall Semester - (11 weeks)
Day/Time: Mondays, 5:00pm – 5:50pm (ages 8-10)
Where: Wallace Theatre, CBU Campus rm. 203
Fee: $125 per student

Class Size: 20 Students

Musical Theatre Workshop (ages 10 - 17):

Learn or strengthen your knowledge in the art of Musical Theatre. Build a foundation of heathy singing exercises and techniques. Gain confidence while working on individual and ensemble pieces. Begin the process of learning ‘how to’ act and dance while singing!

 

Dates: Fall Semester - (11 weeks)
Day/Time: Mondays, 5:00pm – 5:50pm (ages 10-12)

Day/Time: Mondays, 6:00pm – 6:50pm (ages 13-17)

 

Where: Wallace Theatre, CBU Campus rm. 204
Fee: $125 per student

Class Size: 20 Students

Acting Fundamentals (ages 13-17):

This class will teach you skills and techniques used while acting on the stage. You will explore theatre games, audition techniques, character exploration, stage exercises, movement, monologues, and ensemble work.

 

Dates: Fall Semester - (11 weeks)

Day/Time: Mondays, 6:00pm – 6:50pm (ages 13-17)

Where: Wallace Theatre, CBU Campus, rm. 203

Fee: $125 per student

Class Size: 20 Students

Instructor: Taught by CBU Theatre Staff

Spring Musical Production:

 
Spring Production (ages 8-17):

Annual Program Production. Auditions will take place in the Fall Semester. Audition guidelines will be posted to the website.

Dates: Spring Semester - (13 weeks)

Day/Time: Mondays, 5:00 pm – 6:50 pm
Where: Wallace Theatre, CBU Campus, rm. 204
Fee: $175 per student

Show will be the last weekend of April 17-18, 2020

Tech Rehearsal Week will be April 14-16, 2020

Audition: Dec. 16-17, 2019

                 December 16 - Open Auditions (5 - 7 pm)

                 December 17 - Call Backs (5 - 7 pm)

IEMA Students and Families can attend a weekday Student Matinee Production for $5 per ticket

IEMA Students can attend a Regular Show Time FREE with paid adult ticket. $10 IEMA parent ticket.
