String Orchestra

Beginning String Orchestra

Studying music of all genres, students will also focus on technique, music theory, ear training, tone, scales, counterpoint, and preparing pieces for the Winter and Spring Concerts. Fall Semester includes one complementary private lesson. 

 

String Orchestra students include: violin, viola, cello and double bass.

Equipment Needed: Instrument, portable black music stand, and own instrument cleaning and maintenance items.

Students should bring a pencil to class. 

Prerequisite: No previous experience is needed. Beginning Strings is for students grades 4+.

Meets weekly for 50 minutes

Intermediate String Orchestra

This group will build on the player’s previous experience by introducing new keys, bowing techniques, higher positions. Growth opportunity in musicianship and master classes will enhances the young musician’s ability to play in sectional ensembles.

Prerequisite: Minimum 2 years Beginning String Orchestra or meet the proficiency requirement. Fall Semester includes one complementary private lesson. 

Equipment Needed: Instrument, portable black music stand, and own instrument cleaning and maintenance items.

Students should bring a pencil to class.

Young Musicians String Orchestra

Designed for the more advanced high school-aged musician, CBU Young Musicians String Orchestra offers young musicians a full orchestral experience. A large ensemble working at a very high level, the orchestra sight-reads, rehearses, and performs the finest symphonic literature from a variety of musical style periods. In-depth musicianship classes and master classes will enhance this phenomenal experience.
