String Programs

Beginning Strings

Beginning Strings instruction is offered one-on-one with a private instructor. Currently all private instruction is offered virtually. 

 

String lessons include: violin, viola, cello, and double bass.

Equipment Needed: Instrument, portable black music stand, and own instrument cleaning and maintenance items.

Students should bring a pencil to class. 

Prerequisite: No previous experience is needed. Beginning Strings is for students grades 4+.

Meets weekly for 30 minutes at $30 a lesson. 

Instructor:  Coordinated with a program instructor.

Intermediate String Class

This group will build on the player’s previous experience by introducing new keys, bowing techniques, higher positions. Growth opportunities in musicianship and masterclasses will enhance the young musician’s ability to play in sectional ensembles.

Prerequisite: Minimum 2 years playing experience or meet the proficiency requirement. 

Equipment Needed: Instrument, portable black music stand, and own instrument cleaning and maintenance items.

Students should bring a pencil to class. 

**SPRING 2021: All String classes for Spring 2021 will be held virtually**

Prerequisite: Students must audition.

Advanced String Class

Designed for the more advanced high school-aged musician, the Advanced String Class offers young musicians a challenging and rewarding experience. A large ensemble working at a very high level, the Advanced Strings class sight-reads, rehearses and performs the finest symphonic literature from a variety of musical style periods.
