

String Program
Beginning Strings
Beginning Strings class is a self-paced group learning class. Students will learn bowing techniques, fine motor skill exercises, beginning music theory, sight reading of music and more! As students progress and meeting various skill goals, they would be able to audition for the next level.
String lessons include: violin, viola, cello, and double bass.
Equipment Needed: Instrument, portable black music stand, and own instrument cleaning and maintenance items.
Students should bring a pencil to class.
Prerequisite: No previous experience is needed. Beginning Strings is for students grades 3+.
Mondays / 5:00 - 6:00 PM / Meets weekly
Instructor: Coordinated with a program instructor.
String Orchestra
The String Orchestra is for young musicians who wish to expand their musical skills. Its mission is to provide a stimulating atmosphere for its members to develop musical skills in a string-orchestra setting by working with professional musicians and performing great classical music. Playing ability and balance of instrumentation are the determining factors in the selection of members.
The String Orchestra is a large ensemble rehearsing and performing at a very high level the finest symphonic literature from a variety of musical style periods.
Prerequisite: Students should schedule an audition with Ms. Wheeler.
